As a queer individual who was born in the Southwest and grew up in the South, I learned at an early age that other people’s experience didn’t fit mine. This began my deep empathy for anyone who didn’t fit into the majority identity, regardless if their experience was similar to mine or not. Interning in rural Georgia, being a fellowship recipient, working at an Accountability Court, and other moments in my life were all efforts born of this empathy. This empathy has evolved into Compassion, which I aim to extend to clients in a way that can be felt every session.
When I am not working, I am usually with my community of loved ones, a word deeply ingrained in my way of life.
With my partner, we are often at a concert, working on a project around the house, or hosting a get-together with our friends. We have three cats: Finn, Jake, and Marshall.
I believe that it can be strange to reach out to a person you know nothing about to see if they could be your therapist, so to help ease any anxious parts you may have, here are some things about me!:
My desire is for my clients to know themselves in a new way that brings about change. In a world where judgement, shame, and fear are easily found, I work to create a rapport with my clients where all their parts are welcomed so they can experience Compassion, Clarity, and Connection in our work together and in their lives.
I have received consultation and done research on how to use both of these powerful modalities of therapy integrated together. I have seen how the use of IFS and EMDR in tandem produces powerful healing and transformative shifts in clients’ internal and external worlds. Utilizing IFS, EMDR, and the belief that the therapeutic rapport is an attachment experience for clients, I work to be warm and accepting, balanced with grounded clinical skills to create an impactful therapy experience.
