Licensed Therapist at Sage Haven Counseling

Charlotte Jones, LCSW

She/her

After 8 years of doing this work in community mental health, schools, correctional settings, and higher education, I’ve learned that people don’t just need a therapist who is skilled. They need one who will bear witness to their story and show up with them. That conviction didn’t come from a textbook. It came from living it.

Coming into adulthood, I carried what a lot of my clients carry: family expectations, the pressure to hold everything together, and the quiet work of figuring out who you are inside all of it. Growing up in Oakland and finding my community at Clark Atlanta University gave me a foundation, but that inner work was still to be done. Through dance and mental health education helped me do it.

My background as a dancer shaped both who I am now and how I practice. Dance taught me to pay attention to what the body is doing when words aren’t enough, to work with rhythm and resistance, and to understand that growth doesn’t always look graceful in the middle of it. When a dancer turns, they pick one spot on the wall and keep coming back to it. You can wobble, lose your rhythm, or even stumble. But as long as you keep finding that spot, you will complete the turn and reach your destination.

Outside of therapy, I enjoy discovering new restaurants and hidden gems, attending concerts and events, traveling, and spending time with loved ones. I also genuinely enjoy teaching, mentorship, and conversations surrounding mental health, identity, wellness, and community.

I am a new plant Mom! Meet Hope and Sis.

Charlotte's Approach & Mission

I specialize in working with women, adolescents, and high-achieving professionals navigating anxiety, burnout, identity, relationships, and the particular exhaustion of being capable and still feeling like it’s not enough. As a Black woman, HBCU alumna, and former dancer, I bring both clinical depth and lived experience into the room. I believe therapy works best when it feels less like an evaluation and more like a conversation.

As a therapist, I utilize a warm, relational, and culturally responsive approach grounded in CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, TF-CBT, and person-centered techniques. I believe therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and I strive to tailor sessions to each client’s unique experiences, strengths, values, and goals.

My desire is for clients to develop a deeper understanding of themselves while building healthier coping strategies, stronger relationships, and greater confidence in navigating life’s challenges. I understand that beginning therapy can feel vulnerable, especially for individuals who have spent much of their lives feeling misunderstood, overlooked, emotionally exhausted, or responsible for carrying everything on their own. Because of this, I place strong importance on creating a therapeutic relationship rooted in trust, authenticity, Connection, and emotional safety.
